How to Tag on Instagram Tagging Like a Pro

1. Tag your Instagram username. You can tag your username along with every photo you post, e.g. #username. This will enable any user interested in your pictures to easily find them with one single search and also eliminate the need of scrolling through all the pictures on a user’s profile

2. Tag the subject of the picture. Add a subject or description to every one of your pictures. The idea here is not to tag every single word, only the most relevant and important. For example:
"Pic of my #cat #sunbathing in the #garden"
"My #sister enjoying some #chocolate #cake"

3. Tag the location. Some of the most popular searches on Instagram involve specific places or locations, so try to tag the place where the photo was taken (not where you are currently.) For example:
"Pic of my #holidays in #Thailand, #Asia"
"Beautiful #snow covered #mountains at #Lake Tahoe"

4. Tag the apps, techniques and camera used. If you used any special equipment or techniques to take your photos, include that information in a tag. It adds interest to your photos and makes it easier for those looking for special images to find your picture.
"Pic made with #Iphone5 #Camera"
"Effects added with #snapseed"

5. Add a comment about yourself. Let other users get to know you a little better by including a comment about yourself under your picture.
Use the hashtag #allaboutme followed by all of your relevant information.
For example: "#allaboutme I love to #travel, I enjoy #food, #skiing and #diving."

6. Create a tag for events. If you and your friends want to share photos from a specific event, all you have to do is decide on an original keyword and use it to tag all of your photos.
For example, if everyone going to a party tags their party pictures with #sarah30thbirthday it will be very easy for everyone to search and view the images.

7. Use tags to organize contests. Some users use #hashtags to organize different types of contests and groups.
If you want to launch a photography contest with a sunset theme, you would just ask all those wanting to compete to use a tag such as #sunsetcontest.
This makes it easier for organizers to quickly find all the entries and decide who the winner is.

8. Research the most popular tags. Do a quick search of the current top 100 Instagram tags. Incorporate some of the most popular tags in your own images (as long as they're relevant, of course.) This will allow your images to be viewed by as many users as possible.
